This display features an assortment of curious finds that can be displayed as art on your wall or in your own cabinet of finds. It measures approximately 5.5" by 5.5" and has a tooth hanger on the reverse.
The curiosities included in this box are (top row) Blue Kyanite from a local gem shop, fossilized coral and crinoid stems from local private property, a river snail shell, (middle row and large compartment) tulip poplar samara, turkey tail mushroom, and preserved giant wood sorrel bloom, (bottom row) Colias philodice (Clouded Sulphur) butterfly hind wing, and a piece of shed skin from my beloved Western Hognose snake, Seymour.
I created this display from a set of laser cut boxes that I found at my favorite local craft reuse shop. The frame is birch that has been sanded, repainted with acrylics, and sealed. The reverse features my signature.
The insects and critters I use in my crafts are found naturally, already deceased, I never collect live specimens. Plants and moss are collected from my own yard or sparingly from unprotected areas and preserved by me. This means they are not perfect. They could have torn wings, missing antennae or legs, wrinkled petals and leaves, or other defects that you would expect to find from something that has been outside in the elements for a while. I take care to clean them up and repair them to the best of my ability to give them a second chance at being admired.
