Catalpa Sphinx Moth and Beetles in Handpainted Folk Shadowbox Frame

$60.00

Each one of my displays are unique and contain naturally found pieces from my exploration that have been ethically collected from unprotected public lands. I also incorporate found, upcycled, and thrifted items along with minerals and fossils from locally owned shops.

Here’s the story behind this hand painted sphinx moth and sugarcane beetle display:

• Two naturally deceased sugarcane beetles that were found in the pits of the Nashville Super Speedway near Lebanon, TN in 2024.

• One naturally deceased female Catalpa Sphinx moth, found on a patio near a dog park in Greeneville, TN in 2024.

• The flora included are dried floral pieces from a local craft reuse shop in Nashville, TN. The moss and lichen used were harvested from a friend’s yard in Mount Juliet, TN in 2024.

• The frame, metal finding, and vintage fabric used were purchased from a crafting reuse shop in Nashville, TN. The accent paper was a gifted book of vintage Victorian style dollhouse wallpaper from a local friend. This frame measures approximately 8"x6" and is just a bit over 1" deep.

Each display arrives carefully packaged, signed on the reverse, and includes a print out with all of the information for the items used to create the scene and care instructions.
